I enjoy the work itself: teaching the tools, facilitating honest conversations, helping a team get to the real issue, and watching people grow into the leaders their businesses need.
I have sat in the owner’s seat
I’ve spent two decades in the business world, from New York to San Francisco and back home in Idaho. I’ve been a consultant, CFO, and CEO, and worked across the seats that make an entrepreneurial business run: sales, operations, finance, Integrator, and Visionary.
I’ve co-founded a private equity fund, bought businesses, sold a business, and raised more than $100 million in debt and equity capital. Those experiences have given me a practical understanding of what it takes to lead a business, make difficult decisions, and take responsibility for the results.
In those years, I’ve also seen many successful leaders reach the end of their careers carrying regret about how they spent their time. They wish they had given more of it to the people they love.
I’ve seen that it doesn’t have to be that way. Good systems and healthy boundaries can help us build successful businesses while making room for our loved ones and the lives we want to live.
That experience shapes how I work with leadership teams today. I know how much an owner can carry, and how valuable it is to have a team that can see clearly, make decisions, and follow through together.
Why Clarity2Freedom exists
I’ve chosen to spend my professional life helping other entrepreneurs implement EOS because it is the best system I’ve found for achieving business success and living a great life. For nearly a decade, I’ve experienced that in my own life and seen it in the lives of my clients.
Clarity2Freedom gives a home to the questions, articles, and resources my clients and others find helpful in their journey to implement EOS.
My official EOS Implementer page explains how to work with me. This site holds my writing, questions, monthly newsletters, and client stories, with links back to the official EOS resources. The purpose is to help people use EOS effectively in their businesses.
Clarity creates confidence. Confidence creates freedom.
In water skiing, a deep water start is the moment a skier rises out of the water on a single ski. Mastering it opens up the freedom and joy of slalom skiing.
I named my EOS implementation business Deep Water Start because I had reached a similar point in my career. After years of helping other people operate and grow businesses, I had the confidence and capability to own and grow businesses myself.
That connection between clarity, confidence, and freedom still means a great deal to me. I see it when leaders understand what matters, trust their teams with more responsibility, and make room for the lives they want.
Life beyond the business
My life centers on my wife and four kids, my community and church, and getting outside whenever possible. I enjoy water and snow sports, college football, reading fiction, and traveling with my family.
A business should make room for those things. I care about that for my clients, and I am working on it in my own life, too.
